This is another charming Lego kit for adults or kids mature enough to move beyond the immature boy stuff the company churns out. Several of the buildings in the Christmas series are too fanciful for my taste. I like buildings that could plausibly exist in real life, and it's easy for me to imagine this one in a European village. My wife and I have put it out every Christmas since it was released and thoroughly enjoy it every year.I don't have enough experience with Lego kits to say if this is a good deal or not, but I find the overall effect delightful, and I marvel at how creative the designers are at putting together various pieces to make convincing details. My only quibble is that I wish the base were a bit bigger. I tried to find a big white plate for the figures and tree to go on, but I couldn't find one at a price I was willing to pay, and to my surprise the few times I've looked on eBay for one I haven't found any.Lego sets are fun. Our family has tried to get one each of the last few years and make it a tradition to put them together on Thanksgiving and leave them out as decoration during the holidays. The interesting thing to note about the Christmas sets is due to their rarity, they seem to increase in value over time. Even if you decide not to keep it long term - it would seem as though you could at least get your money back if you just take care of the set.We enjoy Legos in this household. Christmas + Legos = Always a good timeThis was great fun to build, and took maybe 5 hours (I really don't remember exactly, as there were other things to be done in the meantime). The detail of the Workshop and the Christmas tree is really amazing - there is a battery and light, so that the toymaker's private workshop (upstairs) can be lit up; there are strings of lights for the tree; the toys in the shop windows can be swapped out with other little toys built with this set. I look forward to building this each year to include in our Christmas decorations. This was hours of fun for my 11 year old expert builder and his assistant (me!) The directions were easy to follow and the end result was magical! Loved all the moving parts on the toys, the large Christmas tree, and, of course, the special light in the toy maker's office. We hope to make this an annual project adding new pieces to the village every year.A Big hit with our young Lego crowd, tons of pieces and lots of possibilities for setting up an entire Lego village. Whatever happened to the little log cabins that you could put together? Lincoln Logs? Lego toys make those look an antiquated as I feel sometimes. Anyway the crowd was impressed with this toy and room had to be cleared immediately to begin putting the thousands of pieces into something that resembled the pictures on the box.Really nice Christmas Lego set. I used to buy the Lego advent calendar sets but now buy these larger Christmas sets instead and divide the pieces up into 24 almost equal parts. The advent sets build something very small each day but my kids really enjoy building these bigger, more engaging sets over the 24 days. Plus, our Lego Christmas scene gets bigger each year as the new set gets added. My son asked for this for Christmas this year. I know a lot of people were upset because this set was a re-boot of a previous set, but it was new to us and my son loved it! It has a lot of really nice details inside the toy shop and the tree was great. It also came with many extras. He has decided to keep it put away so we can use it to decorate for Christmas every year.My family is a big fan of Christmas decorations. What better way to decorate for Christmas than to put a Lego set on the book shelf? This is a fun set to build, and my kids enjoy setting up a winter scene and play with the mini figures, tree, etc. This product is great and very advanced in some steps. I'm a teacher and got my students to build it for the classroom, they loved taking turns. At times they had to ask for assistance for colours and how to build certain parts. It's an impressive set and worth the purchase. Most of this set is easy to build but I had some troubles getting the roof to stay in place. Now that it's up it looks fine. The tree was fun to build and it was the most fun I've had decorating a tree in years! I'm not much of a fan of Christmas but I enjoyed this. I also bought Santa's workshop and the two sets look good together. My decorating is done!Fantastic set. Hope to collect all the Christmas themed sets. What can you say..it's Lego...it's amazing.Nice alternative to a gingerbread house. All the building and none of the sugar.
